Delivery without delivery of registered mail, etc. 7 prefectures of emergency declaration on April 8 at 20:35

In light of the spread of the new coronavirus, Japan Post has decided to allow registered postal items to be delivered by face-to-face delivery in the seven prefectures where the emergency was declared.

In Japan Post, registered mail is usually handed in person face to face, and signs are provided to show that the mail has been received. However, in order to reduce the chances of contact between customers and delivery staff, emergency situations such as Tokyo and Osaka have been declared. The conditions will be eased in the seven prefectures issued.

This includes general registered mail, simple registered mail, and packages such as Yu-Pack. On the other hand, cash on delivery, limited receipt, and registered mail are not eligible.

When delivering the target mail, the delivery staff listens to the request via the intercom, etc., and finishes the delivery by placing it in a designated place such as in front of the entrance or in a mailbox, in addition to handing. Instead of signing, the courier keeps a record of the delivery to the designated location.

Such delivery is a limited measure based on the spread of the new coronavirus, and we will return to the normal delivery method depending on the situation.

With the spread of the new coronavirus, each home delivery company is strengthening its delivery in a face-to-face manner.
