The authority said in statistics published yesterday that the attacks on websites in the country witnessed a significant increase, which reached 948% during the first quarter of this year, compared to the same period last year, where the number of attacks reached 566 attacks in the first quarter of the year 2020, compared to 54 attacks in the same quarter last year.

The «Telecommunications Organization» stated that the attacks varied between malware, security holes, phishing, fraud and scams, explaining that the malware constituted 59% of the total attacks, which are programs that are created with the purpose of destroying or affecting systems and programs, or obtaining powers in an inappropriate manner Legal, including viruses, malware, spyware, and more.

She added that the attacks included 34% security holes in the systems, which can be exploited by criminals to tamper with the systems and influence them, in addition to 6% of phishing attacks, fraud and fraud, and it aims to trick the user to deliver his private data, such as his bank cards and passwords to his accounts.

In addition, the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority reported that the number of shopping store applications, which provide services electronically to consumers, increased by 150% during the past two weeks.
