Approximately 240 billion yen for emergency economic measures to support the return of production bases to Japan Government April 7, 5:03

The spread of the new coronavirus has had a major impact on the supply network for parts, the so-called supply chain. For this reason, the government has decided to include about 240 billion yen in the emergency economic measures to be determined on the 7th, such as costs to support the return of domestic production bases by companies.

The supply chain's vulnerabilities have been highlighted, including the supply of masks and auto parts from China has been delayed due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection.

For this reason, the government intends to support the costs of companies that relocate their production bases to Japan or relocate to Southeast Asia for products and parts whose production is heavily concentrated in specific countries such as China.

When returning production bases to Japan, small and medium-sized enterprises subsidize two-thirds of the cost and large enterprises one-half.
In particular, for urgent products such as masks, respirators, and protective clothing that are lacking in Japan, the subsidy rate will be raised to 3/4 for small and medium-sized enterprises and to 2/3 for large enterprises.

In the case of dispersing production bases in Southeast Asia, the policy is to subsidize two thirds for small and medium enterprises and one half for large enterprises.

The total budget is expected to be around 240 billion yen, and the government has decided to include it in the emergency economic measures to be determined on the 7th.
