In Shanghai, China Mobile Shanghai has successfully deployed the world ’s first 5G site using 32T high-transmission rate equipment in Pujiang Town, Minhang District.
As of the end of February, 164,000 5G base stations had been opened nationwide. The number of China Mobile's 5G base stations has exceeded 80,000. Since China Unicom and China Telecom signed a sharing agreement, 5G base stations have been opened in 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities across the country, and more than 50,000 shared base stations have been built. The 5G coverage has increased by nearly 60%.
After the outbreak of the New Coronary Pneumonia epidemic, the tasks of the communication construction support project came one after another, and the application of 5G has become the technological "pioneer" of the war epidemic. At a critical juncture to fight the epidemic, Wuhan decided to build Vulcan Hill Hospital. With the opening of Wuhan Vulcan Hill Hospital, the full deployment of 5G networks has started simultaneously. From the site investigation, the determination of the construction plan, the allocation of materials to the construction of the project, it took only two days to build 8 5G base stations in the area of Wuhan Huoshenshan Hospital. Among them, China Mobile opened three 4G and 5G base stations, China Unicom opened two 4G base stations and three 5G base stations, and China Telecom built three new 5G base stations, which created favorable conditions for medical staff.

Speeding up the construction of new 5G infrastructure has become a "keyword" in 2020. The meeting of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee held on March 4 emphasized the acceleration of major projects and infrastructure construction that have been clearly defined in the national plan. We must increase investment in public health services and emergency supplies, and accelerate the construction of new infrastructure such as 5G networks and data centers.
On March 24, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued the "Notice on Promoting the Rapid Development of 5G", proposing to fully promote 5G network construction, application promotion, technological development and security, and give full play to the scale effect and leading role of 5G new infrastructure, Support high-quality economic development.
"As of the end of last year, there were 130,000 5G base stations in China, and this year we will further increase construction efforts." Han Xia said that the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will further promote basic telecommunications companies to target 5G independent networking and accelerate network construction in major cities. , And gradually extend coverage to key counties and towns where conditions permit, encourage local governments to increase policy support, and ensure the protection of 5G site resources, electricity, and frequency.
