The Department of Economic Development Abu Dhabi affirmed the commitment of the Government of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi to achieve food security and encourage agricultural production and support companies supplying local foodstuffs in the emirate in order to continue and sustainability in providing all categories of society with their necessary needs of consumables and food.
This came in a circular issued by the department to the owners and managers of commercial licenses at the level of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, which engages in the activities of supplying and selling foodstuffs, agricultural and animal products, supermarkets, groceries and cooperative societies in order to secure the market needs periodically.
The Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development directed in its circular that suppliers and manufacturers of wholesale foodstuffs and bakeries in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi need distributors and outlets to communicate with farm owners, meat producers, livestock breeders, poultry, and local fishers in the emirate with a view to setting a monthly procurement program to provide them with priority for others, within the quality levels. Approved.
The department recommended in its circular that directors of companies ’branches must inform their headquarters located outside the Emirate of Abu Dhabi of this circular within one day of notifying them and acting accordingly from the date of its issuance.
