The Jamie's Italian restaurants in Rotterdam and The Hague by television chef Jamie Oliver close immediately. The management of Italian Food Concepts Netherlands writes this on its own website on Wednesday. With this, the restaurant concept chain as a whole departs from the Netherlands.
The extension of the corona measures until April 28 is the main reason for the decision, the management writes. "The lack of turnover due to the corona crisis in the past weeks and the lack of turnover in the coming weeks, possibly even months in combination with the continuing costs, has ensured that we see no further future for our restaurants," said the chain.
The last two locations of the restaurant brand were located in the Markthal of Rotterdam and on the Grote Marktstraat in The Hague. Last April, the curtain fell on branches in Arnhem and Tilburg.
Oliver, best known for his many cookbooks and his work as a TV chef, was forced to close most of his restaurant empire in the UK last year. 22 of the 25 restaurants closed due to imminent bankruptcy.
