The aviation industry, where passengers are drastically reduced

With the spread of the new coronavirus, the operating environment of airline companies is rapidly deteriorating. The government intends to incorporate measures to support the aviation industry, such as deferring payment of airport fees, into economic measures that will be rolled out next week.

In the aviation industry, the operating environment is deteriorating, with the number of passengers drastically decreasing due to the spread of the new coronavirus, and significant suspension of operations and reduced flights.

For this reason, the government plans to suspend airport usage fees paid by each company for up to six months at airports managed by the government, such as Haneda Airport, as part of the economic measures to be summarized next week.

Airport usage fees are paid for the use of the runway, and are said to account for approximately 10% of the costs of operating aircraft.

In addition, the government has established a special loan system called Crisis Response Loan, which has no upper limit on the amount of loans through the Development Bank of Japan, etc., so that if an airline needs a large amount of funds, it can get a loan. It is possible.

However, the aviation industry has been demanding further assistance, such as reducing or exempting airport usage fees, in the face of difficult business.

In economic measures, it has been pointed out that priority should be given to households, small and medium-sized enterprises and small businesses with decreasing income, and we are urgently considering how far we should go.
