China News Network, Nanjing, March 27th (Reporter Shen Ran) On the 27th, the Jiangsu Railway Group reported that according to the plan of the Shanghai-Tongzhou Railway to open the main cities along the Ningqi Railway after connecting to the Ningqi Railway, direct trains to Shanghai showed that Yangzhou, Jiangsu The three cities, Taizhou and Nantong will realize direct trains to Shanghai, and the operating time of Nantong to Shanghai trains will be reduced to about 1 hour.

According to reports, the opening of the first phase of the Shanghai-Tongguan Railway to the Ningqi Railway will greatly improve travel conditions in major cities along the line.

The relevant person in charge of the Operation and Management Department of Jiangsu Railway Group told reporters that at present, Yangzhou, Taizhou, Nantong and other major cities in Jiangsu and Central Jiangsu travel to Shanghai by train, and they need to transfer along Nanjing-Ningqi Railway in Nanjing, and then along Beijing-Shanghai Railway It takes about 7 hours to reach Shanghai (including transit waiting time). Due to the long time it takes, many citizens in central Jiangsu, especially Nantong, would rather squeeze into a car and spend about 3 hours in Shanghai rather than take a spacious and comfortable train to Shanghai.

On September 20, 2019, the Shanghai-Tongjiang Yangtze River Bridge was successfully closed and became an important node of the Shanghai-Tongguan Railway Project. (Data map)

After the completion of the first phase of the Shanghai-Tongguan Railway, this situation will be completely changed. In the future, citizens of the three cities of Jiangsu and Central Jiangsu will be able to take the train directly to Shanghai through the Ningqi Railway, Shanghai-Tongtong Railway Phase I and the original Beijing-Shanghai Railway. By then, Nantong citizens will take a train to Shanghai, and the journey will only take about 1 hour. Even in the faraway Yangzhou and Taizhou, it only takes about 2.5 hours to drive along this line to Shanghai.

It is expected that the first phase of the Shanghai-Tongtong Railway will be opened in July this year, and it has now entered the final preparation stage. Jiangsu Provincial Railway Group and China Railway Shanghai Bureau Group are further optimizing the relevant opening plans, and strive to provide better choices for people traveling along the line.
