Everything will be done to ensure that the ceasefire is respected, said the Turkish president, who reserves the right to respond to any attack by the Damascus regime.
The agreement adopted by Russia and Turkey also provides for a safety corridor to be set up along certain sections of the M4 motorway, which crosses the province of Idleb. Joint patrols will be conducted by Russia and Turkey to provide security for the area, six kilometers deep, on either side of the highway.
For Russia there is still no question of letting go of Bashar al-Assad's regime - this is why Moscow insisted on obtaining guarantees on the safety of this very important road axis in Damascus' eyes. But the Russian president is keen to preserve his relationship with Turkey. “ We do not always agree with our partner friends on the situation in Syria, said Vladimir Putin after the meeting, but each time, at critical moments, we were able to find the points of agreement. and lead to the right decisions .
