Emirates Integrated Communications Company «du» stated that it is currently working on implementing a project for a smart virtual hospital in the country, which allows to conduct examinations and obtain medical prescriptions from homes or from any place through the use of a virtual platform on the Internet based on artificial intelligence technologies, data analysis and the Internet of Things .

Marwan bin Dalmouk, Senior Vice President, Business Development, Information and Communications Technology and Enterprise Solutions at the company, said in a press statement on the sidelines of the "Internet of Things 2020" conference that was held in Dubai yesterday, that the new project, to be piloted during the third quarter of this year, is Its implementation is based on a memorandum of understanding that the company recently signed with the Ministry of Health, with the aim of benefiting from modern technologies in providing innovative new services in the health sector.

Avoid waiting

Bin Dalmouk added that the new virtual hospital will avoid patients suffering from prolonged waiting in hospitals and medical centers, especially in emergency departments, and it is easy to conduct checks and periodic follow-up of cases.

He pointed out that the hospital will be linked to health insurance systems, and the availability of prescriptions using "Block Chain" technology, to facilitate the dispensing of medicines from various pharmacies in the country.

Smart platform

Bin Dalmouk added that the new hospital's work system is being developed using a smart platform that classifies and identifies disease cases and then turns them into specialized doctors for remote exams using voice and video conversations.

He referred to holding talks to use pressure and temperature gauges, and other devices approved by the Ministry of Health to conduct preliminary examinations of patients before the examination by specialized doctors, indicating that these devices are linked to the hospital's smart platform via the Internet of Things systems.

He also pointed out that there are options that will be discussed regarding those devices, explaining that the first option is to make it available to patients who want to use them in different health centers, while the second is to provide those devices for sale for use in homes for patients who want to use the service through the hospital platform periodically, or to make available Both options.

Choose doctors

Bin Dalmouk stated that the new hospital will allow patients to choose doctors with the possibility of merging between government and private hospitals or use the services of visiting doctors from outside the country, noting that during the trial operation of the hospital, the experience will be evaluated and developed in a way that suits the different needs of patients.
