A labeling error can be reported on the SignalConso platform - M.Libert

  • The SignalConso platform must allow consumers to report any faults, errors or problems encountered in French businesses and businesses.
  • A test version was launched in March 2019 in Center-Val-de-Loire, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and Occitanie.
  • The platform is now available throughout France.

SignalConso went all over the country. This Tuesday, February 18, Agnès Pannier-Runacher, Secretary of State to the Minister of Economy and Finance, formalized the national launch of the DGCCRF platform, after a Beta phase initiated almost a year ago.

Simplify reporting procedures

Available on all digital media, SignalConso allows consumers to report to the administration any breach of their obligations by a company, with the possibility of providing proof by a photograph. An error in the prices, a hygiene problem, a fraud, a defect ... There are several types of possible reports. The company can then respond directly, or provide proof to the administration that it has taken the complaint into account.

The site also informs the user of the viability or not of his report. And once it is registered, the consumer is kept informed of the rest of the file by email.

Successful tests in three regions

First launched in Center-Val-de-Loire, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and Occitanie, SignalConso has therefore reached, after a year, "the degree of maturity which allows its deployment", said on Tuesday Secretary of State. During this test phase, the site generated 60,000 visits, which resulted in 3,400 reports. The DGCCRF considers good reception from companies. Among those who were the subject of a report, 69% created an account to read it and 77% of them provided a response. A rate that leads Agnès Pannier-Runacher to consider SignalConso as "a customer relationship tool". "The test phase resulted in around thirty checks for companies whose reporting was too often repeated," said Virginie Beaumeunier, director of the DGCCRF.

These reports mainly concerned price problems, hygiene, expired products and contractual disputes. Restaurants and mass-market stores were targeted by the DGCCRF during the implementation of the test, hence their significant presence among reports. The DGCCRF also mentions numerous cases observed in the telephone and insurance sectors.

Tests to anticipate hiccups

The platform has been tested in collaboration with consumer associations, to manage the different types of requests and a possible influx. A source at the DGCCRF explains to 20 Minutes that the test carried out on the first three regions made it possible to anticipate possible hiccups for this national launch, and that the servers are ready to record more requests.

And what about a possible manipulation of SignalConso to harm a trader or a competitor? In other words, slanderous denunciations in the genre of truncated reviews that can be found on online review sites. The DGCCRF is kicking the ball, arguing that its teams have the experience to deal with these reports.
