Expo 2020 Dubai and Getman Dubai has achieved a new achievement, the first in the world, in the framework of efforts to enable man to fly in the atmosphere without assistance, as Getman successfully implemented the first mission to take off a 100% human pilot and fly it at a high altitude without assistance within the mission of Expo 2020 "project Human flight. "

On Friday, February 14, the Jetman Vince Revit pilot managed a successful launch into the sky from the Skydive Dubai runway, flying at an altitude of one thousand and 800 meters.

This first experiment of its kind demonstrated the ability of the human pilot (the Jetman) to carry out launch-to-air maneuvers directly from a fixed starting point from the ground without the need for a high platform to launch into the air.

Wearing a two carbon-fiber wings, Rivet was equipped with four small jet engines, and the equipment provided by the human pilot could reach the speed of 400 km / h, flying, changing directions and maneuvering, and his body would be controlled.

Revit flew about five meters above the surface of the waters of the Arabian Gulf for 100 seconds. After showing full control of the flight operation by carrying out stopover, rotation and recoil maneuvers, he returned to the Skydive Dubai runway where he landed safely.

After that, Revit took off again and headed south towards the Jumeirah Beach Residence, where the speed and height increased, reaching an average speed of 240 km / h and rose in the air to a distance of 100 meters in eight seconds, 200 meters in 12 seconds, and 500 meters in 19 seconds. , And a thousand meters in 30 seconds.

At the end of the three-minute trip, Revit carried out a full warp maneuver and a sharp spin maneuver at 1,800 meters, before opening its parachute at a height of 1,500 meters and landing safely in Skydive Dubai.

Previously, Jetman pilots were flying into the air by leaping down from elevated platforms such as helicopters. Among those previous experiences is an impressive experience in late 2019, which was also part of the Expo 2020 Dubai "Human Aviation Project" program. During that experience, Revit and his fellow pilot Fred Fogen managed to fly through the Tianmen Cave (also known as the Gateway to Heaven) in Hunan, China.

This is the first time that a Jetman pilot has combined safe flying at low altitude and simultaneously flying high-altitude maneuvers.

Three engineers - the Indian Mohamed Rashid Chimbankandi; the Swiss, André Bernet; and the chief engineer, Frenchman Mathieu Courtois - have developed the pioneering technology that helped make this mission a success.

The three engineers together managed to modify the thrust propulsion jet that allowed the bird to control the rotation around the diffraction axis at zero speed, making the human pilot control of the wing possible in all stages of flight without the assistance of any electronic balance systems.

In anticipation of any engine failure at a low altitude, the Revit was supported by a canopy that reduced the critical phase time in a trip to four seconds (when its height was between five meters and 50 meters).

As always, the health and safety of the pilot was the absolute priority of this mission. Therefore, no fewer than 50 flight tests were performed involving more than 100 takeoffs and landings, all crash safety and flying safety system tests were performed in the presence of a helicopter.

After landing safely, Revit said, "We are very happy to have completed this wonderful journey in peace. It is the product of very subtle teamwork, where every little step has achieved great results. Everything was planned, and I was thrilled at the progress. It is another step." In a long-term project. One of the following objectives is to land on the ground after flying at an altitude, without having to use a parachute. Work is underway on this. "

Development will continue in the coming months, and the "Human Aviation" project has also been training Ahmed Al Shehhi, the first Emirati Jetman pilot, as the UAE prepares to receive 192 countries and 25 million visits from around the world at Expo 2020 Dubai, the largest event held in the world The absolutely Arab and the most amazing event in the world, from October 20, 2020 to April 10, 2021.

"This is a historic moment in the efforts to enable people to fully self-fly," said Aisha Al-Nuaimi, who is tasked with leading the project from Expo 2020 Dubai. What has been achieved through the joint work of Expo 2020 Dubai and Getman confirms that there is no impossible if we work hard, with passion and creativity that blends with the spirit of innovation. "

Expo 2020 Dubai will be held under the slogan "Connecting Minds and Creating the Future" and will be the first international expo to be held in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia.

Through the three sub-themes, opportunities, mobility and sustainability, Expo 2020 Dubai will celebrate the genius of humanity and its achievements, global arts, and will hold entertainment events, showcasing the latest developments in the world in architecture, modern technologies and much more. Expo 2020 Dubai will inspire more than two hundred international participants, including countries, companies and international organizations, as well as millions of visitors, to build a better future for all humanity.
