The student-entrepreneur status helps young project leaders. - IStock / City Presse

The value does not wait for the number of years. While they don't even have their diploma in their pocket yet, some young people have a very specific business creation project in mind. To support them, the State has designed a specific path for them.

To prove himself

It was in 2014 that the legislator created the national student-entrepreneur status. A world first which today inspires some of our neighbors. This device is intended for any bachelor, student or young graduate, who wishes to launch his company. No matter its sector or the type of entrepreneurial approach. However, priority is given to young people under 28 years of age.

To obtain this status, you must send your file to the Student Pole for Innovation, Transfer and Entrepreneurship, says Pépite. There are around thirty of them in France, but today you can apply directly on the Internet. The Pépite's engagement committee is then responsible for studying the quality of the entrepreneurial project, but also the seriousness and maturity of the candidate. It then transmits a favorable or unfavorable opinion to the Ministry of Higher Education, which issues the status.

Appropriate supervision

Once accepted, the young project leader benefits from specific measures allowing him to advance on his creation of company. Students can first of all arrange their timetable to reconcile their ambitions with their training. Similarly, the work accomplished for this entrepreneurial project can replace the compulsory internship of the course. He is then recognized by obtaining ECTS credits, which count towards the validation of the course. As for graduates, they can keep or regain the advantages associated with student status and undergo dedicated qualifying training. In their case, the system is indeed accompanied by the obligation to register for the student-entrepreneur establishment diploma (D2E), whose program is personalized.

Whether they are still in training or already graduated, all these young people benefit in any case from enhanced support through double tutoring by a teacher and an entrepreneur and an adapted work environment, since they have access to Pépite coworking spaces. Thanks to this status, they can finally sign a business project support contract (Cape) in order to obtain material and financial assistance to carry out their project.
