The Governor of the Brazilian state of Sao Paulo, Joao Doria, stressed that there are great opportunities for Emirati companies to participate in infrastructure projects in the country, such as building roads, airports, ports and metro networks, as well as taking advantage of the expansion of the Brazilian market and economic growth, calling on Emirati businessmen to increase their investments in Brazil, by participating in the Sao Paulo Privatization Program.

This came during a meeting held yesterday by Emirati and Brazilian businessmen in the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in the presence of a periodical, in which they discussed the establishment of more economic partnerships between the business communities in Sao Paulo and the UAE in general, where the meeting revealed the need to intensify joint efforts and benefit from Undiscovered business opportunities between Dubai in particular and Sao Paulo, in promising sectors of mutual interest, such as food and technology industries, innovation, transportation and logistics.

The "Dubai Chamber" and the Sao Paulo Investment Promotion Agency signed a joint memorandum of understanding, aiming to enhance coordination, cooperation and exchange of experiences between the two sides, in a way that serves common interests and goals. In addition, the agency decided to open an office for investment promotion in Dubai.

Doria said that the current Sao Paulo mission to the UAE is the largest in the state’s history, as it includes more than 50 business leaders in Sao Paulo, six ministers of the state government, and 47 companies from Sao Paulo, pointing out that economic and trade relations between Sao Paulo and the UAE are experiencing tangible momentum, He explained that the UAE surpassed traditional trading partners such as Italy, where Sao Paulo exported 25% of its exports to the UAE, while it imported 30% of its imports from the UAE, during the past year, which reflects the strong trade cooperation between the two sides.

He periodically indicated that he asked Emirates Airlines to launch a second additional trip to Sao Paulo starting next year, in order to meet the demand for tourism and business between the two parties.

For his part, Majid Saif Al Ghurair, Chairman of the Dubai Chamber, stressed the importance of meeting with the Brazilian side in providing a platform to stimulate open dialogue and discussions on business and investment opportunities between leaders, officials and representatives of the public and private sectors in both Dubai and Sao Paulo, pointing to the common denominators That brings the two cities together and makes them a gateway to investment in their region.

Al Ghurair praised the role played by the representative office of "Dubai Chamber" in Sao Paulo, by promoting economic partnerships and trade and investment exchange.

The largest trading partner

Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry stated that Brazil is the largest trading partner of Dubai in Latin America, where the value of non-oil trade between the two sides reached 1.5 billion dollars (about 5.5 billion dirhams) during 2018, while the number of Brazilian companies registered in the membership of «Chamber Dubai »More than 130 companies.
