Cashless payment Available at major post offices nationwide on February 3 at 11:42

With the rapid spread of cashless payments using smartphones and other devices, cashless payments have become available for payment of postage at major post offices nationwide from March 3rd.

Cashless payments can now be made at 65 major post offices nationwide, including credit cards, transportation electronic money, and smartphone QR code payments.

Among them, at the Tokyo Chuo Post Office in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, people who visited immediately used cashless payment, and a male employee in his 50s who purchased a stamp with a credit card said, "Since everyday shopping is almost cashless, I'm glad that I can use it at the station. "

A Chinese woman working in Tokyo said, "I wanted to send a mask to a Chinese family and used smartphone payments."

According to Japan Post, in the past, cash was only paid due to the large burden of fees paid to card companies, but it has been decided to introduce it due to increasing requests from users.

Japan Post will expand the number of available post offices to about 8,500 in May, and in around 2023 all post offices except the simplified post office will introduce the service.

Yoshiki Tachibana, director of the Japan Post Digital Business Strategy Division, said, "We also want to have foreign travelers use the post office for cashless payments because there are also Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics."
