• CPI Inflation rises three tenths in January, to 1.1%, for electricity

The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Spain grew by 2% during the past year, which means the least progress since the beginning of the recovery. You have to go back to 2014 to find a lower figure. It was 1.4%, and occurred in the first year of growth after the strong recession. Today, the context is noticeably different. The economy is in a clear deceleration, a process that according to most of the forecasts will hit bottom this year and that will be noticed, and much, in the creation of employment.

The progress of the National Accounts that the National Institute of Statistics (INE) has published today shows that the economy managed to accelerate slightly during the last quarter of 2019, a fact that allowed Spain to remain above the 2% figure. "The Spanish GDP registers a growth of 0.5% in the fourth quarter of 2019 compared to the previous quarter in terms of volume. This rate is one tenth higher than that registered in the third quarter," explains the INE.
