Huawei ranks second in the world on smartphone shipments

Global smartphone shipments for the past year have fallen by more than 2% compared to the previous year, mainly due to continued buying restraints in China. By manufacturer, Samsung Electronics of South Korea maintained the top position, but Huawei of China overtook Apple in the United States to rise to second place in world share.

According to US research firm IDC, the total number of smartphones shipped worldwide last year was 1,371 million, a drop of more than 2% compared to the previous year.

This is due to the fact that in China, which is the largest market, consumers are refraining from purchasing new models until the price of next-generation 5G-compatible models drops.

Looking at the market share by manufacturer,
▽ Samsung Electronics of Korea maintained the lead with 21.6%,
▽ Huawei of China is second with 17.6%,
ア ッ プ ル U.S.A. Apple ranked third with 13.9%, with the second and third places swapped.

In addition, Xiaomi of China ranked fourth with 9.2%
▽ China's OPPO ranked fifth with 8.3%.

Last year, IDC showed that global shipments will start to increase with the spread of 5G-compatible models, but this time the spread of new coronavirus infections in China will increase the supply network of each company. And may be a risk factor.
