Sharjah National Oil Corporation "Snook" announced yesterday the discovery of a new natural gas and condensate field in the Emirate of Sharjah under the name "Mahani" with flow rates of up to 50 million cubic feet per day, along with the liquids associated with it, noting that this It is the first land discovery of gas in the emirate since the early eighties.

The Foundation reported that the new discovery was made in cooperation with its Italian partner ENI during the first year of partnership between the two institutions.

She explained that the "Mahani-1" well was drilled at a total depth of 14,597 feet, which resulted in the discovery of gas with the associated capacitors in the formation of Thumama, pointing out that the discovery volume will be estimated in a timely manner in light of expectations for further evaluation and development .

The foundation added that the “Mahani-1” well located in the B concession area, is the first exploratory well that the foundation is drilling after obtaining a new three-dimensional seismic survey covering the region. His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Oil Council, said that the discovery contributes to the emirate’s commitment to providing adequate supplies of natural gas in the UAE, indicating His Highness the strategic infrastructure of the Emirate of Sharjah to support the efforts of the state to meet the demand The growing energy on the part of consumers in residential and industrial areas and utilities.
