In connection with the coronavirus, airline KLM is handing out masks to the crew working on flights to and from China. KLM flies directly from Schiphol to the Chinese cities of Shanghai, Hangzhou, Beijing, Chengdu, Xiamen and Hong Kong.
"We hand out masks to staff for flights to and from China. They are not obliged to wear them. That is on a voluntary basis," a KLM spokesperson told NU.nl. No mouth caps are handed out to passengers.
The spokesperson could not yet say whether travelers can get mouth caps if they ask. "We also take no special measures." The KLM spokesman was also unable to say whether more passengers than usual would cancel flights to China. "Anyway, we don't know the reason when people cancel a flight."
According to RIVM, there are no reasons to take precautionary measures in connection with the corona virus. The institute does, however, point to the adjusted travel advice for Wuhan and the surrounding area.
