The total liquidity balance that the Emirates residents circulated outside the banks increased to 78.2 billion dirhams in 2019, an increase of approximately 11%, and an increase of 7.7 billion dirhams, compared to the total balance at the end of 2018 of 70.5 billion dirhams, according to figures released by the Central Bank.

Cash circulating outside the banks is one of the most important elements of the money supply (N1), which also includes: issued cash, cash in banks, in addition to cash deposits, according to the Emirates Central Bank ratings.

The large increase in cash circulating outside the banks reflects the need for liquidity institutions and individuals alike to spend on their obligations or to pay for the requirements of daily life, knowing that the increase in the value of cash circulating outside the banks is an indication of the activity witnessed by the economic sectors in the country.
