Toyota Approximately 3.4 million units sold in North America Recalled with airbags January 22 12:02

Toyota Motor has announced that it will recall about 3.4 million units such as the Corolla sold in the United States, etc., as airbags may not work. According to the U.S. Department of Transportation's Road Traffic Safety Administration, the impact could spread to other manufacturers and lead to massive recalls.

According to what Toyota Motor Corporation announced on the 21st, the recall targets are all Corolla sold in North America from 2011 to 2019,
3423.24 million units including the Avalon manufactured from 2012 to 2018.

These cars may not be able to activate the airbag in the event of an impact, but none were sold in Japan.

The airbag was manufactured by ZF TRW, a U.S. component manufacturer and German company, and the U.S. Department of Transportation's Road Traffic Safety Administration last April included Toyota in North America, which has adopted a similar airbag. We have begun a survey of six manufacturers.

In addition to Toyota, Honda, Mitsubishi Motors, Hyundai, etc. will have a total of 12.3 million units, so there is a possibility that recalls will spread in the future.

During the recall over airbags in the early 2000s, a defect was found in Takata airbags in Japan, which led to a large-scale recall of over 80 million vehicles in Japan and the United States.
