Google's parent company, Alphabet, is worth a trillion US dollars, 898 billion euros. This makes Alphabet the fourth American company to reach this milestone.
Apple, Microsoft and Amazon have already reached the 100 billion market value limit. Apple and Microsoft are still valued at more than a trillion dollars, but Amazon is now below that limit.
The most valuable company in the world is oil giant Saudi Aramco, and went on the stock exchange last month with a value of 2,000 billion dollars.
Analysts say the success of Alphabet is due to Sundar Pichai, the newly appointed CEO of the company. In December 2019, founder Larry Page announced to resign, along with co-founder Sergey Brin.
Page and Brin founded Google twenty years ago, initially as a search engine. The company has now owned or marketed various other products, such as the YouTube video platform, the Maps service and office software.
