The Balearic Government has approved a pioneer decree in Europe that prohibits the so-called 'drunkenness tourism' in the areas of Playa de Palma and Magaluf in Mallorca and the West End of San Antoni de Ibiza and that contemplates the expulsion of hotels from tourists who practice balconies and fines of up to 60,000 euros.

The decree law prohibits in these three areas the advertising referred to the consumption of alcohol and free bars, the excursions, publics , the happy hours , the "2x1" or "3x1", the self-dispensers of alcohol, as well as the sale of alcoholic beverages in stores between 9.30 pm and 8 am Drinks must be charged at a unit price, with no possibility of promotion.

Tourists who practice or allow balconies at any hotel in the Balearic Islands may be expelled "immediately" from the establishment in question and will face fines of between 6,001 and 60,000 euros.

In addition, this new decree limits party boats : the granting of new licenses is suspended until the regulation of this activity within a period of 24 months and the boats that are licensed cannot embark or disembark the tourists in None of these three areas, which are the hottest of the Balearic drunken tourism.
