The Emirates Caribbean Renewable Energy Fund announced the start of the second phase of its three-year plan to establish renewable energy projects that are adaptable to the climate in 16 Caribbean countries, after completing new development and financing agreements for countries: the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Guyana, Grenada, and Saint Kitts Nevis, Trinidad and Tobago and Suriname.

This stage was announced during the activities of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2020, one of the largest gatherings concerned with sustainability issues in the world.

Under the new development and financing agreements, a solar PV project will be developed on the roof of a garage and rooftops in the Dominican Republic, and a solar PV project and hybrid storage battery will be developed in Dondon Village, Haiti.

A hybrid solar photovoltaic plant equipped with a battery storage system will also be established on Wakinam Island in Guyana, and a solar PV plant equipped with a battery storage system in Cariaco in Grenada.

In Saint Kitts and Nevis, two solar PV desalination plants will be developed, while a solar PV hybrid plant will be built with a battery storage system in Suriname, and a solar PV project will be developed on the roof of a parking garage in Trinidad and Tobago.
