The new Minister of Social Security, José Luis Escrivá, has already presented in his first appearance as head of this new Ministry what the main objectives of his mandate will be: to eliminate the Social Security deficit while the pensions are linked to the CPI of indefinitely, and promote inclusion and migratory flows.
"Ours is to strengthen the solvency and sufficiency of the pension system and give certainty. We will guarantee the updating of pensions according to the CPI , but our proposal also aims to quickly and effectively close the Social Security deficit, " Escrivá explained.
The former president of the Independent Authority for Fiscal Responsibility (AIReF) has not explained how he intends to carry out such an ambitious and important task, beyond pointing out that the Social Security reform will have "a good starting point" in the agreements that the Toledo Pact was about to close last year and that they did not crystallize because of the break-up that led, precisely, his fellow Cabinet and Minister of Labor, Yolanda Díaz.
But in any case, what Escrivá has wanted to make clear is that the "real challenge" that Social Security faces is " demographic aging ." And for this reason, your Ministry will benefit and support migratory flows.
"The next decade Spain is going to see how its population of working age is reduced. We must encourage ourselves so that the migratory flows that arrive are those that Spain needs in the future, with a consistent migration policy based on the long term", has Detailed Escrivá, that already in the AIReF indicated in more than an occasion that the arrival of immigrants of working age would be basic to raise the income of the Social Security in the form of social contributions.
