A refugee in Beirut to escape Japanese justice, the former CEO of the Renault-Nissan alliance announced in the daily Le Figaro that he contested his resignation from Renault and demanded his retirement rights.

" My resignation from Renault is a farce, " says Carlos Ghosn in the columns of Le Figaro . The former boss of the builder seized the labor courts of Boulogne-Billancourt at the end of December, to claim his pension rights.

On January 23, 2019, imprisoned in Japan, Carlos Ghosn sent a letter to the Renault board of directors. In this letter, he notes his impediment, which leads him to put an end to his mandates. The objective is thus to allow Renault to restore governance.

An approach then interpreted by Renault as a resignation. What Carlos Ghosn disputes, for whom this letter is absolutely not a letter of resignation.

The 65-year-old former CEO believes that there is nothing to justify Renault depriving him of his retirement rights, which represent nearly 770,000 euros per year.

He also claims his performance shares and the payment of his retirement indemnity of nearly 250,000 euros. The hearing at Boulogne-Billancourt is scheduled to take place in February.
