A traditional period, but with something new. The kick-off for the winter sales will be given this Wednesday, January 8 at 8 a.m. at the national level. But unlike in previous years, the hunt for discounts will not last six weeks, but only four. It will therefore end on February 4. But what are the rules to follow to take advantage of it?
A location, you will do
First tip: anticipate! A few days before the opening of the sales, go to the stores and try to identify the items that will be sold among those that interest you.
How to proceed ? It's simple: go for it and ask the sellers. These few days of patience can save you a lot. Of course, you take the risk of an exhaustion of stocks.
A budget, you will set yourself
No question of gleaning everything that comes into your hand while waiting for the checkout to do your accounts. It is imperative to set yourself a starting budget and stick to it. This portfolio must not exceed the 10% that you usually reserve for your “pleasure” expenses.
To avoid the headaches we regret, make a list before you go. This will limit your comings and goings between stores. And if you absolutely want to treat yourself to a surprise, add it to your list and define in advance the maximum budget for this "unexpected" purchase.
Labels, you will decipher
The later you go, the lower the prices. Each year, the sales are subject to several markdowns. Take advantage of these to get the best deals. The last day is a real bargain, with discounts of up to 75%. All the same, advice: don't wait until the last moment for items corresponding to a specific size. You might not find the right shoe for you.
When making your list, separate the essential from the superfluous and plan several shopping sessions to stagger your purchases judiciously.
Your rights, you will know
Don't let yourself be manipulated. Stores have the obligation to take back or exchange an item if it has a hidden defect.
Two different guarantees are possible. The legal guarantee of conformity designates items that cannot be used in their current state (a bicycle without a pedal, for example). The so-called “hidden defects” legal warranty covers items that do not correspond to what you expected and that have a defect so important that, if you had known, you would not have bought them (for example, an MP3 player with a capacity lower than that indicated on the packaging). In either case, you can request a refund.
Good deals, you will find
Sales are often an opportunity for stores to sell the merchandise they have on their hands. These items are often mixed with the rest and recognizing them requires a certain perspective. Do bargains really exist during sales? Yes, as long as the product is of good quality and sold at a reduced price, especially with regard to expensive technical products such as IT, hi-fi / video, telephony or household appliances.
