In anticipation of possible reprisals from Tehran, after General Suleimani's assassination this week in Iraq, many American cities have raised their alert level, even if the authorities assure that nothing indicates an imminent danger. And protesters gathered to say no to a war against Iran.

We have entered a different world. We must now consider that we are in a state of war. These are the words of the mayor of New York, reported by our correspondent in Washington, Loubna Anaki . During a press conference, Bill de Blasio announced a strengthening of security in the city, while assuring that there was currently no direct threat from Tehran.

The city was already on a high alert level. Bill de Blasio promises even more patrols in the streets, around sensitive or very busy places like the metro and tourist sites. Some police officers will be equipped with heavy weapons and the canine brigades will also be in support. Members of the National Guard were also deployed to airports and train stations.

Security measures have been adopted in other large cities, such as Los Angeles, Chicago and Washington. Authorities everywhere insist that for the moment there is nothing to suggest that Iran is planning an attack on American soil. Information confirmed by the Department of Homeland Security. And as usual, the authorities call on the Americans to remain vigilant, with the famous message " If you see something, say something ".

" No war against Iran "

In these same cities of New York, Washington, Chicago or Los Angeles, Americans also parade with this slogan " no war against Iran ". Rallies were held Saturday in some 70 cities against a military escalation in Iran and in favor of a withdrawal of American troops from Iraq, at the call in particular of left organizations.

This is a war crime.

Threatening to target and kill innocent families, women and children - which is what you're doing by targeting cultural sites - does not make you a “tough guy.”

It does not make you “strategic.”
It makes you a monster. https://t.co/IjkNO8BD07
