The Sunni community, from which the outgoing Prime Minister hails, is not fooling around. Tuesday, December 24, a group of young people again organized a sit-in outside Hassan Diab's home .

The mufti of the Republic, the highest Sunni religious authority, has still not granted an audience to this professor at the American University of Beirut. And some sheikhs did not mince their words during their preaching, calling him to resign, because, according to them, he does not represent the community.

The outgoing Prime Minister, Saad Hariri , does not make his job easy either. He has already announced that the largest Sunni parliamentary bloc he chairs will not trust the government of his successor.

Protesters waiting

Despite these attacks in good standing, Hassan Diab seems determined and has announced that he will not withdraw. He defended himself from being the candidate of Shiite Hezbollah, and promised to quickly form a government that will be that of all of Lebanon. He met with representatives of the protest movement , which seems to want to grant him a grace period.

Indeed, the attacks against him come mainly from Sunni circles. The protesters are waiting for the composition of his government before expressing an opinion. In this context, Hassan Diab leans for a team composed mainly of non-partisan technocrats, new faces inspiring confidence in the Lebanese.
