More than a month after a deadly strike in the Gaza Strip, Israel recognizes an intelligence failure. The bombing of Rasmi Abu Malhous, a "commander" of the Islamic Jihad organization, a Palestinian armed group, also claimed the lives of eight family members.

In mid-November, Israel announced that it had eliminated Rasmi Abu Malhous, suspected of being a senior Islamic Jihad official at the head of a rocket unit within the organization.

An air strike on November 14 targeted Rasmi Abu Malhous' home in Deir al-Balah, in the southern Gaza Strip, two days after the outbreak of violence between Israel and the Palestinian enclave.

But this strike, presented as surgical, resulted in civilian casualties . Rasmi Abou Malhous, his two wives, these five children and his brother were all killed instantly. A total of nine members of the same family.

" Avoid repeating similar incidents in the future "

However, just before the bombing, Israeli military intelligence appeared to be adamant and said, " There is no risk of civilian casualties in this operation ."

Since then, an investigation has been launched. His conclusions are clear: Rasmi Abou Malhous' home was in a building where military activities were carried out. But where civilians also lived. The investigation concludes that " repetition of similar incidents in the future must be avoided ".
