Abu Dhabi Ports announced the achievement of distinguished results during the current year 2019, in a move that highlights its increasing contribution to non-oil GDP for Abu Dhabi and the UAE.

In this context, Abu Dhabi Ports handled more than 20 million tons of general cargo in all of its ports during the period from January to November 2019, outperforming the entire 2018 year of 19.7 million tons, while the volume of container handling reached 2.5 million TEUs. During the 11 months of this year, it exceeded 1.7 million TEUs that were registered in the whole of 2018.

The growth in cargo handling performance in both Mussafah Port and Khalifa Port contributed to the consolidation of these accomplishments. Mussafah Port recorded an increase of 300% from January to November compared to the same period last year, while Khalifa Port recorded an increase of 25% in the same period. In Khalifa Port, there was a 63% increase in container handling during this period.

Abu Dhabi Ports achieved another major achievement during the month of August alone, when it handled 2.5 million tons of general cargo, which represented a new record for the volume of cargo handling within one month. These remarkable results reflect the growth of demand from customers, and the importance of the company's investments in infrastructure to provide more innovative solutions and services for investors and companies.

On the other hand, Abu Dhabi Ports recorded a remarkable growth in the number of cruise ships coming to Abu Dhabi during the period from January to November.

Abu Dhabi Cruise Ship Station has grown in importance since its launch in the year 2015, as it recorded a 47% increase in the number of tourists this year until November compared to the same period in 2018, in light of the increase in visits by cruise ships to the station by 51%, surpassing the numbers of last year in full.

The CEO of Abu Dhabi Ports, Captain Mohammed Jumaa Al Shamsi, confirmed that the company has become more involved in enabling global trade and strengthening vital sectors such as industry and logistics, in addition to operating the ports.
