The department stated that it has adopted the official customs broker for "Expo 2020" as an approved economic operator, in addition to preparing an integrated guide for customs procedures for the participants in the upcoming event.

In detail, the Dubai Customs Department has strengthened its efforts to develop customs procedures and services provided to participants in the "Expo 2020 Dubai" in order to support the vital role of this global event in enhancing the position of the UAE as a primary center for trade exchange between all international economic powers, in implementation of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The department, through allocating a team from Dubai Customs to coordinate with the Expo 2020 office, completed the approval of the official customs broker for Expo as a certified economic operator.

The department also began preparing an integrated guide for customs procedures for the participants in the forthcoming international event, after Dubai Customs participated actively in the awareness workshops that were organized for the countries and exhibitors participating in the exhibition.

Al Khaja pointed out that «the department also developed (Smart Expo Channel) through the efforts of specialized teams in (Dubai Customs) in order to clear the shipments coming to the exhibition during a record time of completion and the best quality levels, and enable exhibitors to complete their customs transactions without delay using phones and smart devices ».

He pointed out that «(Dubai Customs) formed ad hoc working groups to facilitate the entry of upcoming materials into Expo 2020 Dubai, working to enhance the exhibitors’ ability to benefit from the initiatives and projects developed by the department to facilitate the movement of goods and travelers, in the forefront of which is the smart early disclosure, the risk engine system and the smart audit system And the Integrated Business Channel (B2G) and the smart workspace, where by completing the provision of all its systems and programs to serve the exhibition participants, the department won the first award for the supporter of (Expo 2020) from the Dubai Government Excellence Program ».

The Executive Director of the Customer Management Sector in the Dubai Customs Department, Abdullah Mohammed Al Khaja, said that the department will organize in conjunction with the Expo 2020 Dubai exhibition in cooperation with the World Customs Organization and the Federal Customs Authority, the Fifth World Conference of the Certified Economic Operator Program, hosted by Dubai during the period from 10 to 12 Next March, indicating that this conference is the first of its kind in the region, and is expected to achieve a quantum leap that supports the success of customs work and its continuous development.
