The Federal Statistics Office of Germany announced that Christmas is the most important commercial season of the year for most shops and companies in Germany.
According to a report of the office published on Monday, retail trade usually records 19 percent of its annual sales during November and December.
The office pointed out that there are individual subsectors in the retail trade that achieve a higher percentage of sales such as book trade by 24 percent and game trade by 26 percent.
The Federal Statistical Office indicated that the willingness to donate to German citizens is also increasing during the Christmas period, as 20 percent of the annual donation volume falls in December.
In light of the Christmas celebration linked to the famous Christmas tree, the Central Association of Wood Industries in Germany stated that the number of trees that were produced locally this year amounted to 29.8 million trees, which is almost the same amount that was produced last year.
