In detail, the head of the distribution networks for individuals in the Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, Sameh Awadallah, said that “one of the most common cases of fraud that is monitored in the banking sector is impersonation in the bank, fake investments, making bank statements over the phone, and using cards on websites. Suspicious and unreliable, for the purpose of buying and paying, in addition to responding to fictitious prize campaigns, and these axes are among the most frequently used by fraudsters to catch their victims and delude them with the aim of seizing their personal and banking data.

He added, in statements to «Emirates Today», that the bank is cooperating closely with the relevant security authorities that are making tremendous efforts to combat these crimes, and that the Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank has a specific mechanism to deal with these cases, as it warns the dealers to inform the bank and the police in the event Exposure to any fraud.

He pointed out that in the event of any customer being exposed to a fraud, he should inform the bank immediately, to follow up with him from the relevant department and guide him to the correct procedures, and the customer should inform the police and security agencies immediately, pointing out that the bank is constantly launching awareness campaigns on Financial fraud, in order to fortify community members and bank customers with knowledge and awareness sufficient to carry out banking and financial transactions safely. The bank will launch, during the current month, its annual campaign to educate customers and employees about the risks of electronic fraud and how to address it.

The bank also issues awareness brochures to its customers, to avoid falling prey to the fraudulent phone call, which also comes via e-mail, text message or via the WhatsApp application. This comes within the framework of the bank’s awareness of the risks involved in these operations, and its negative impact on the customers and the banking sector as a whole.

Awadallah continued that, despite the determined efforts made by banking and government institutions to combat operations related to financial fraud, these operations are increasing, and they represent a heavy burden on banks and customers, and incurring financial losses, and therefore we must continue to raise awareness of the precautions and preventive measures that must be followed when implementing Financial and banking operations, as the awareness of the customer is the main pillar to repel those operations. He pointed out that the bank uses the latest technologies to protect customer data, and it is constantly evaluating, developing and implementing advanced banking security measures in addition to the ongoing awareness campaigns.

Awadallah stressed that there are several tips that we provide to avoid becoming a victim of financial fraud, including lack of confidence in phone messages and social media, which promises them fake financial rewards, and we also advise them not to respond to messages that impersonate financial institutions, and the best prevention method is to maintain the confidentiality of information Banking and card data, and notify the security services upon receiving a strange phone call or a suspicious message.

He stressed that the bank also warns of fraudulent methods for fraudsters, such as sending text messages or via the application “WhatsApp”, for the purpose of fraud, including a warning against the bank’s ATM card not being updated, and its request to communicate on mobile phone numbers, allowing fraudsters to know its data And steal it.
