“Underground gas storages were filled for the winter period at the historical record level and so far only a small part has been used,” RIA Novosti quoted her as saying.

She noted that almost 98% of all gas supplied to the Czech Republic comes from Germany.

Earlier, PGNiG, an oil and gas company, said Poland was ready for a possible suspension of Russian gas transit to the EU through Ukraine.

Slovak Minister of Economics Peter Giga said that the cessation of gas supplies from Russia to Europe through Ukraine is quite possible, Bratislava is preparing for such an option.
