At the same time, she pointed out that such sanctions could adversely affect gas negotiations between Russia and Ukraine.

“These negotiations are quite encouraging, and in this regard it would be unfavorable if Ukraine did not receive transit fees, because the negotiations would be complicated, because we, on the other hand, have this position on Nord Stream-2,” quoted by the chancellor of RIA Novosti.

On December 17, Bild wrote that Berlin was preparing to impose US sanctions over Nord Stream 2.

Later, the US Senate approved the budget for 2020, which includes, inter alia, sanctions against the pipeline.

The Kremlin indicated that possible sanctions are an example of unfair competition.
