Emirates Airlines reported that the peak of the holiday travel season inside and outside the country extends from December 19 (today) to January 6, expecting the number of Dubai International Airport users to exceed five million passengers within 18 days.
Emirates Airlines and its partners (Dubai Police, Dubai Customs, General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs, Dubai Airports and Roads and Transport Authority) revealed yesterday joint plans to facilitate the movement of passengers and traffic to and from buildings (1) and (3) at Dubai International Airport, during that period (Peak season).
The company advised travelers to follow a number of important measures, including the completion of travel procedures via the Internet before arriving at the airport, and delivering luggage on the "counters" designated for that, as well as arriving at the airport at least three or four hours before the plane takes off.
The Emirates Airlines said in a statement that the Roads and Transport Authority will extend the hours of the Dubai Metro on some peak travel days, noting that it will allow the metro users from arriving and departing passengers to carry two bags.
She explained the extension of the metro's working hours as follows: On December 27 and 28, the red line (between the Rashidiya stations and DMCC will operate only) from five in the morning until three thirty in the morning of the next day, while the green line (all stations) will work from five and a half Morning to half past three the next morning.
On December 31 and January 1, the red line (between Al Rashidiya and DMCC) will operate 24 hours, while the green line (all stations) will operate 24 hours as well.
On the second and third of January, the red line (between the Rashidiya stations and the DMCC only) will operate from five in the morning until half past three in the morning of the next day, while the green line (all stations) will operate from five in the morning until three and thirty in the morning next one.
Emirates Airlines indicated that to avoid and reduce traffic congestion on the roads leading to and from the airport, Dubai Police will provide instructions for the use of alternative routes.
It indicated that travel gates are closed 20 minutes before scheduled flight departure times, and passengers arriving late will not be allowed to board aircraft.
The company added that qualified visitors (citizens of countries eligible to obtain a visa upon arrival) and residing in the UAE (holders of Emirates ID cards) can use smart gates to finalize passport procedures within seconds, to avoid waiting in lines at passport control counters.
Operating 9 charter flights to export Chilean cherries
From November 15 to December 13, Emirates Air Cargo, the cargo arm of Emirates Airlines, operated nine charter flights to transport Chilean cherry exports from Santiago to stations in East Asia, including Shanghai, Hong Kong and Seoul.
The nine flights carried more than 850 tons of cherries on the Boeing 777 freight planes, each with a tonnage of about 100 tons.
The tanker provides a specialized solution called Emirates Fresh, which ensures that fresh fruits and vegetables and other products keep their freshness during the journey from the source to its final destination.
