“The reports that Russia and Ukraine reached a preliminary agreement on gas transit are untrue,” the company’s press service said on Twitter.

Naftogaz emphasized that the parties “agreed to continue to agree,” but “it’s still far from practical agreements.”

“The Russians began to actively discuss the issue of future gas relations with us and the new GTS operator. This is progress, ”the Ukrainian company noted.

They also confirmed that Naftogaz and Gazprom will continue consultations at the expert level and in a trilateral format with the participation of representatives of the European Commission.

Earlier, Naftogaz’s executive director, Yuriy Vitrenko, announced the achievement of preliminary agreements between Ukrainian and Russian gas transit companies.

Director of the Center for Geopolitical Research at the Institute for Innovative Development Dmitry Rodionov in an interview with the FAN assessed the likelihood of a new gas contract between Russia and Ukraine.
