“On December 29, 2019 in Shanghai ... an agreement was signed on the provision of an urgent loan in the amount of 3.5 billion yuan,” the statement said.

It is specified that this loan is not related to the implementation of any project and can be aimed at general goals, including repayment and servicing of the state debt, maintaining the gold and foreign exchange reserves of Belarus, as well as promoting the development of bilateral trade with China.

Earlier, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko approved a draft agreement on providing a loan from Minsk to China in the amount of 3.5 billion yuan.
