The French car manufacturer Renault is said to have offered Luca de Meo, CEO of car brand Seat, his CEO position.

The Spanish newspaper La Vanguardia reports this on Saturday based on anonymous sources. Renault and Seat have not yet responded to the report.

According to the newspaper, De Meo was first CEO of Renault for two years, after which he would also be responsible for the alliance between Renault, Nissan and Mitsubishi.

The Italian was already mentioned as a candidate for the top position, just like Clotilde Delbos and Patrick Koller (Faurecia).

The appointment of De Meo would put an end to the unrest among the French car producer that had arisen after the arrest of former CEO Carlos Ghosn.

Ghosn, among whom the alliance between Renault, Nissan and Mitsubishi, was arrested in Japan in November 2018 on suspicion of financial misconduct.
