Abu Dhabi Development Holding Company announced its intention to conclude an initial agreement to launch a new local economic airline, based in Abu Dhabi, in cooperation with Wizz Air, which is the largest economic airline in Central and Eastern Europe, noting that the new carrier will be the first airline to carry a mark Wizz Air is outside the European continent.

Abu Dhabi Holding said in statements yesterday, on the occasion of the announcement of the new company, that the company will be established in a joint partnership with Wizz Air, and it is expected that the carrier will launch its flights during the second half of next year.

And «Abu Dhabi Holding» indicated that the new company is to own the fleet of Airbus A321new aircraft, and that it will launch its flights in markets with a population of five billion customers in Europe and other regions.

Furthermore, Brian Thompson, CEO of Abu Dhabi Airports Company, said during a press conference yesterday that the launch of the new airline confirms the distinctive features of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi from a well-established infrastructure, in addition to the strong system adopted by Abu Dhabi Airport for the transportation of passengers.

Thompson stated that the establishment of the new economic aviation company, and the procedures associated with the entry into force of the agreement are subject to obtaining all internal and external approvals, including the fulfillment by the new company of all regulatory requirements, by the General Authority of Civil Aviation in the UAE for obtaining a certificate of validity as an approved aviation operator of Before the body.

In turn, CEO of Wizz Air Holding, Joseph Faraday, said that the company is proud to announce the initial agreement to launch its first brand airline outside Europe in Abu Dhabi.

Add new destinations

The CEO of Wizz Air Holding, Joseph Faraday, explained that the new airline will add between 50 and 100 destinations to the Abu Dhabi Airport network, including new destinations for the first time.

He stated that Wizz Air flies to 700 destinations, as well as transit flights to 153 destinations in 44 countries, noting that the company is studying expansion outside Europe, especially in Africa, the Middle East, the Indian subcontinent and Russia.
