Israeli MPs have until Wednesday midnight (22:00 GMT) to agree on the name of a prime minister, otherwise the dissolution of Parliament will be automatic. But the impasse from the legislative elections of September 17 last remains total.

For several days now, Israeli political parties have shared the same analysis: third elections in a year seem inevitable . This Monday, they have already negotiated a date for the organization of the poll. If it is to take place, it will be March 2. And the formations have largely anticipated the start of the campaign.

On Sunday evening, Benyamin Netanyahu's Likud passed a resolution canceling any primary elections in case of new elections. The party list will remain the same as in the March and September polls.

Only the fate of the top of the list remains to be determined. One of the Likud executives is calling for open primaries for the number one spot, currently occupied by Benyamin Netanyahu.

For its part, Bleu-Blanc, the center-right coalition, considered by its detractors as a fragile alliance of circumstances, shows its unity behind its leader, Benny Gantz . And the number two on the list, Yair Lapid, has waived his requirement to share the post of prime minister with the former chief of staff in case of victory: the announced rotation between the two men at the head of the government would have cost a few seats to the training in previous polls.
