The Emirates Council for the Fourth Industrial Revolution approved the implementation of 14 targeted initiatives to enhance the use and employment of advanced technology in government work during the next year, as part of the efforts of the UAE government to develop innovative solutions based on the tools of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

The Minister of State for Advanced Sciences, Chairwoman of the Emirates Council for the Fourth Industrial Revolution, Sarah Bint Youssef Al-Amiri, when she presided over the council meeting in the presence of the Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence and Vice-President of the Council, Omar Sultan Al-Ulama, stressed that «the UAE adopts the employment of the outputs of the fourth industrial revolution in achieving development goals and designing solutions Innovative of current and future challenges by taking advantage of the potentials and opportunities offered by technology and advanced science in developing vital sectors, empowering societies and building a better future for future generations.

Global laboratory
"The Emirates Council for the Fourth Industrial Revolution seeks to enhance the position of the UAE as a global laboratory for future technology by coordinating efforts to take advantage of the outputs of the current technological wave, preparing and developing policies and practices in support of its employment in the work system and expanding its use and applications," Sarah Al-Amiri said in a statement yesterday.

The 14 initiatives are divided into 6 initiatives supervised by the Sectoral Empowerment Committee, and 8 initiatives that follow the implementation of the Committee for the Development and Adoption of Advanced Technology. These initiatives cover platforms, systems and applications, policies and strategies, capacity-building, conducting research and studies, and implementing activities aimed at enhancing the uses of the tools of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Council Initiatives
In the Sectoral Empowerment Committee, the initiative of the Ministry of Economy “Holding Companies for Intellectual Property within the territories of the Emirates’s emirates”, the initiative of the Ministry of Education “the national policy for the fourth educational revolution”, the initiative of the Ministry of Energy and Industry “the Emirates Award for the Future Factory 4.0” and the initiative of the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation "Technology Policy First", the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority's initiative "International Mobile Telecommunications - 5G - 5", and the initiatives of the Office of Artificial Intelligence that include "sessions with experts" and "a workshop on the challenge of the Fourth Industrial Revolution" and "the market of experimental ideas".

The initiatives of the Commission for the development and adoption of advanced technology will be announced at a later time.

New systems
The Council discussed developing vital platforms, systems, and smart applications in addition to specialized policies and strategies in the areas of capacity building, research and advanced scientific studies, and evaluating these initiatives through global standards to ensure their development and achievement during the next stage.

The Assistant Director General for Strategy and Innovation at the Office of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers at the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs and the future, Chairman of the Legislative Committee in the Emirates Council for the Fourth Industrial Revolution, Hoda Al Hashemi, reviewed the efforts of the UAE in strengthening the government work environment based on adopting innovation concepts and practices at various levels to ensure growth Qualitative economist.

The Assistant Director General for Governmental Performance and Excellence in the Office of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers at the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs and the Future, Maryam Al Hammadi, also presented developments in government potential indicators, specifically the innovation index in government institutions during the past years.

The meeting discussed the preliminary results of studying science, technology and innovation policies that support the fourth industrial revolution in the country, in addition to surveying and analyzing policies and laws related to innovation, and presenting global best practices in activating these policies in the most innovative countries in the world, up to the «UAE Centennial 2071».
