"Ookla", the international company specialized in applications of testing broadband speed and mobile networks and analyzing the speed of downloading and sending data, has classified "Etisalat" Company as the fastest mobile phone network in the MENA region, and the fastest broadband network in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, Africa and the Arab region during 2019.

A statement issued yesterday stated that this classification was based on a careful analysis by «Ookla» of millions of tests carried out by traders across each network to check Internet speeds, using different applications on mobile platforms.

Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of Ookla, Doug Stiles, said that through receiving this honor, Etisalat confirms its long-term commitment to continuing its leadership in the telecommunications industry regionally and globally, especially as the importance of this honor stems from its dependence on tests conducted by dealers across each network.

He added, “Ookla's latest findings have highlighted the unprecedented accomplishments of Etisalat in the mobile network and broadband network in the GCC, Africa and the Arab region, respectively. We are confident that these results and achievements have played an important role in enhancing the position of the UAE as one of the five best countries in the world in terms of mobile network, according to the Speedtest Global Index issued in October 2019, as well as the classification (Etisalat) among the top 10 networks Broadband progress and development in the world, if the third quarter of 2018 is compared to the third quarter of 2019 ».
