To implement a model project with Tokyo's unique point “Tokyo Yua Coin” granted December 6th 17:52

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government announced that it will implement a new model project that will participate in activities that are friendly to the environment.

This is what Governor Koike of Tokyo revealed at a press conference on the 6th.

According to it, the model project will be commissioned by a private business operator to try to promote the “SDGs” = “Sustainable Development Goals” set by the United Nations and cashlessness at the same time.

Specifically, it is for people who have done activities that contribute to the SDGs, such as “off-peak commuting” to work while avoiding congestion, shopping with my bags, and plastic waste reduction.

The person who pays the cost for cashless payment such as a specified credit card or smartphone application or a dedicated QR code, etc., will be given points "Tokyo Your Coin".

For the limited period from January to February next year, the area along the Tokyu Corporation in Tokyo and Otemachi / Marunouchi / Yurakucho is designated as the target area.

“Tokyo Yua Coin” is equivalent to 1 yen for 1 point, and the issuance scale is 25 million points in each area, so that the points granted can be exchanged for private payment service points.

Governor Koike said at a press conference, “It is one demonstration experiment whether or not a new action of promoting cashlessness will be born by actively working on the activities of the SDGs. It is a good business to take the initiative. I would like many people to use “Tokyo Yua Coin”.

Through this model project, Miyako will verify the effects of cashless payments and in the future wants to consider issuing its own digital currency.
