The Tokyo Metropolitan Government has participated in environmentally friendly activities and has established a policy to implement a new model business called “Tokyo Yua Coin” for those who have paid for cashless payments.

This model project is a trial run by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government to simultaneously promote the “SDGs” = “Sustainable Development Goals” set by the United Nations and cashlessness.

Specifically, people who have been engaged in activities that contribute to SDGs, such as “off-peak commuting” to work while avoiding congestion, shopping with my bag, and reduction of plastic waste, credit card etc. If you pay with cashless payment, you will be given a “Tokyo Yua Coin” point.

This model project is scheduled to be conducted by designating the areas along the Tokyu Corporation in Tokyo as well as Otemachi, Marunouchi and Yurakucho.

In addition, “Tokyo Yua Coin” will be exchanged for private payment service points, so it will be implemented on a trial basis from January to February next year after selecting available stores.

Through this model business, the city will verify the effect on cashless payments and in the future it will also consider issuing its own digital currency.
