Considering fees for accounts that are not traded for a certain period of time Mitsubishi UFJ Bank Dec. 5 21:54

A major bank, Mitsubishi UFJ Bank, has been considering taking a fee from a non-trade account for a certain period of time. This is because the business environment has become severe due to prolonged low interest rates, and this is the first time for three major financial groups to receive commissions from depositors.

Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ currently does not charge a fee to have an account, but we are considering taking a fee from an account that has no transaction such as withdrawals and deposits for 2 years.

Depositors who already have an account are not eligible for the fee, but will be eligible for depositors who open a new account after the fall of next year.

We are making adjustments based on the proposal that the fee is 1200 yen per year. Our policy is to determine whether to finally implement the prospect of March next year.

The reason for considering the fee is that while the profits are sluggish due to the long-term low interest rate and the loan of the main business, the cost of the system has increased and the management environment has become severe.

This is the first of three major financial group companies to charge a non-trading account. However, since there are many depositors who think that it is natural to have an account at a bank, how to obtain an understanding seems to be an issue.
