The retirement plans of SNCF and RATP, the Paris transport network, are at the heart of the debates on this day of mobilization. Notably because their beneficiaries strongly oppose the reform of government pensions. But are they so advantageous? Europe 1 takes stock.

ON DECRYPT

The strike against the pension reform extends to many professions, from lawyers to teachers. But the transport sector is pointing the attention of the French. In particular, it is the employees of SNCF and RATP who are mobilized to defend their special schemes. Regimes subject to many fantasies and ideas received, and that Europe 1 decided to examine in more detail. What do the retirement plans of the 135,000 contributing employees of the SNCF and 42,000 of the RATP provide for?

Theoretical retirement ages

At the SNCF, if you are a train driver or controller, you can retire at the age of 52, or a little earlier for older ones. If you work in railway stations, offices or workshops, it's 57 years old. It is simply necessary to have accumulated a minimum service life (for example 17 years of driving for drivers). But at 52 or 57, you will not have a full pension because there is also the need to have contributed a number of quarters.

>> Strike: demonstrations, traffic, schools ... follow the mobilization against the pension reform

Since 2008, this contribution period has been catching up with that of private sector employees. So, in fact, fewer and fewer railway workers leave at the age of 52 or 57 years. On average today, the rolling staff starts at 53 years and 7 months, and the sedentary staff at 58 years and 2 months. As for the retirement pension of the railway workers, calculated on the last 6 months of salary, it is on average of 2.080 euros gross, provided to have made a complete career ... What is not the most current situation .

Careers rarely complete

At RATP, the system is very close, with the same starting ages: 52 years for wheelchairs and employees working in the underground, 57 years for those who are in the workshop. But for the same reasons as the SNCF, the actual age of departure is later: 55 years and 7 months on average for wheelchairs.

The average pension of the RATP agents has given rise to controversy in recent days. The Court of Auditors has released the figure of 3.705 euros gross. Except that, again, it is for a complete career, which is rarely the case considering the effective starting ages. In fact, the average pension paid is just under 2,400 euros.
