The Ministry of Economy announced the launch of a nationwide safety recall campaign, which includes 219 Ford Fusion cars manufactured between 2013 and 2016, Ford Edge manufactured between 2015 and 2016, and Lincoln MKZ manufactured between (2013 and 2016), Lincoln MKX 2016 manufactured in the USA, Canada and Mexico, in cooperation with Al Tayer Motors, the local importer of Ford and Lincoln in the UAE, and Premier Motors Official for Ford and Lincoln in Abu Dhabi.

The ministry said in a report issued yesterday that the recall is due to the erosion of the steering gear drive screws, as in some vehicles covered by the recall, if exposed to high salinity, it may result in increased corrosion and crack one or more of the three "screws" The steering gear motor, which may cause loss of steering assist capability, explained that although the mechanical link between the steering wheel and the road continues in any case, the steering system switches to manual mode, helping to steer the vehicle safely.

The Ministry explained that Al Tayer and Premiere will initiate communication with the concerned consumers to inform them of the recall and request to bring the cars to carry out repairs as soon as the required spare parts are available in the recalled cars. .

She pointed out that the recall campaign comes in line with the Ministry's keenness to follow up on a continuous and continuous basis of all products on the market in the State, in an effort to protect consumers from any dangers or potential damage.
