Construction professionals are protesting against a reform of the government that would cancel the tax advantage allowing them to pay less for diesel fuel from their construction equipment.

Several fuel depots are still blocked Saturday in Brittany by construction professionals. They are worried about the elimination of the tax advantage on road diesel that the government is considering. This special tax allows for the moment professionals, who travel many kilometers with their construction equipment, to pay their fuel 97 cents per liter, against 1.48 euros for individuals.

Threat of shortage

Distraught by the shortage that could threaten the region because of these blockages, motorists flock to the service stations. Vincent Le Gallic, boss of an SME in the construction sector, intends to maintain the pressure. "It is necessary to make strong today so that this tax law of 50 cents is canceled."

The protesters are counting on the transport strike scheduled for December 5 to give their movement the greatest resonance possible. "If we stay until the end of next week, it will become very serious for those who want to work with their vehicle," he says.

"It's the urban versus the rural"

According to him, this is the only way to be heard. Vincent Le Gallic points to the government's misunderstanding of the realities on the ground.

"The technocratic reflections of Paris do not think at all of rural, it is the urban against the rural, and it only gets worse."
